Aromatherapy Soap - Choose Your Favorite Aroma

Aromatherapy soaps offer  advantages and benefits over other soaps on the market. Not all soap is created equal. Pure and natural aromatherapy oils make the difference in skin care, from the condition of the skin to releasing of toxins. Do you have dry skin? Is your body soap too harsh for your skin? Aromatherapy soap can soothe and condition your skin to what it once was when you were young.

The first thing you do when shopping for soap is put it to your nose to smell the fragrance. The colors, shapes and sizes are interesting and it's fun to picture yourself using them. Do you like body wash or shower gel instead of a bar soap? Soaps made in this country only come from about five soap makers. The natural soap industry is making their own bath products and soap bases. Do you want to wake up to take a shower with lemongrass, or grapefruit? Do you want to bathe in luxury in an aromatic soapy sudsy whirlpool?

Do you feel creative? Make your own aromatic soap. It will require melting soap with water, but you don't' have to use lye or fats. Grate one bar of white soap such as Pure and Natural to make approximately 1 1/4 cups. Mix the soap with one tablespoon of water. Pick out soap molds and grease them with a little petroleum jelly. Place the soap and water into the top of a double boiler. Slowly heat the soap until it resembles white pudding. This may take 30 minutes. Do not allow the soap to boil. Add a few drops of your favorite aromatherapy oil and carefully spoon the melted soap into molds. You can overfill the molds because it may settle. Tap the soap mold to remove bubbles. Work quickly because soap hardens immediately. Let the soap sit for twenty four hours. For a twist, add dye for colors. Vegetable dyes are best or dyes made of teas and flowers. Add some chopped nuts, cornmeal or chopped up loofah sponge to the soap when it is melted for exfoliating properties. Soap is the perfect hand crafted gift.
